They’re cute, cuddly as well as utterly vulnerable. Polar bears capture the admiration and recognition of individuals the globe over for their fluffy white coats as well as huggable size. They win honor from pet enthusiasts for their hunting ability and survival techniques in one of the harshest environments on Planet. Yet despite their overpowering recognition these giants are actually in risk of being wiped off Earth absolutely.
The Bear Essential
Polar bears are actually a substantial animals that make their homes on the frozen Arctic marine. The bears will certainly spend the majority of their lives on the ice. Males are able to increase up to ten feet in span and weigh in at over 1,400 pounds! The bears are carnivores, indicating they eat the meat of other Arctic animals. At current there are actually estimated to be actually just less than 50 thousands Arctic polar bears left in the wild. They are on the Endangered Species List.
Intercession in the form of authorities controls to lower human influence has been actually highlighted as a main concern in America as well as more nations. In addition, individual businesses as well as interest collections continue to lobby as well as perform with the government to safeguard this worthwhile animal in its natural habitat. Aside from authorities interference, more analysis regarding world-wide warming is actually critical so that the temperature adjustment can be stopped or turned around. There are agencies that are raising money for this extremely function. One more method communities are helping the polar bear is to make use of trained bear patrol agents to keep the land bound polar bears from individuals as well as to make sure that the bears are not competing too strongly by having the folks for the food resources on land.
One can get included in the mission to conserve the Arctic Polar Bears by functioning immediately by having the World Wildlife Fund. Begin your rewarding journey today by paying a visit to Polar Bears at World Wild Life.

I have got a project on ‘vanishing sea ice’………? Polar bears could face extinction, whales go hungry, seals have nowhere to rest-due to arctic warming. Pls help i had tried to find but not getting the proper info. i want the name of the site.
maybe you can go to a weather site and find out. or go the discovery channel site and look it up. i know the weather channel always talks about the global warnings..good luck…
Type GREENPEACE in http://www.google.com and navigate after getting to the greenpeace site.
What is Palin’s position on funding for helping the Alaskan polar bears? The poor things are facing extinction if something is not done quickly. I hope she will help them if she is elected VP. Can you tell I like bears?
They taste like chicken.
Palin’s position on ANY type of funding has consistently been in favor of PEOPLE Polar bears are NOT “facing extinction”…If you were truly concerned about polar bears, you would have done some research and discovered that their numbers have grown SIGNIFICANTLY over the past 5 years, making them no longer ELIGIBLE for the endangered species list My opinion?…People are more important than polar bears BTW, are you aware that our country is facing a pretty serious (potential) economic meltdown right now?
Oh..Please they are not an Endangered species!!!!!She is an outdoors man who has respect for all the animals of the world. I bet you spit on people who wear fur coats to keep them warm.
The Polar Bears are doing just fine, why not worry about the corruption in the Democrat led congress instead, I doubt seriously the polar bear is going to put gas in your tank, solve the economic problems, nor actually care much about anything except eating. McCain Palin in 08
So if polar bears go extinct, nothing (drastic) happens? I’ve been doing a bit of research (googling and lurking around here mostly) but from what I’ve gathered, the extinction of that particular species of polar bear that’s threatened won’t affect much in the world. Apparently seal populations might go up but then the population of another predator that could kill the seals would go up until everything plateaus again… And after that nothing happens…right?
Basically nothing will happen(except what you said(the seal population may not be able to be controlled by another predator)), but the thing is. There will be no more polar bears. You will never see one. They will be only known in the past. Only pictures will be around to represent them. Its like losing a parent when you are a baby. You wish you could know/see them, but you have to just rely on stories and pictures(though, today there are videos, but you get my point). This is why people don’t want polar bears to go extinct. Also it would be another example of us destroying thousands of creatures just so we have an easier time.
It could have a great effect. Read up on the butterfly chaos theory.
…most likely…the problem is that we still don’t understand the complexity of linkages between animals within an ecosystem. Because of the intensly harsh climate and struggle for survival that it requires, the loss of a large predator in the arctic may lead to other species losses. Like when sheep were introduced to hawaii and they eradicated a particular flower that happened to bloom during a 4-week spring period. During that spring period a particular butterfly larvae would dine exclusively on the foliage of said flower and a particular species of rare and very beautiful hawaiian bird adapted to the normal abundance of larvae and hatched its chicks during this 4-week period. Except when the flowers were gone, the larvae died out and so did the chicks. The bird went extinct because of sheep.
Well if the polar bears disappear, then of course the seal populations will go up. Then the seals will eat more fish etc etc etc….I don’t think the changes would be drastic, but I’d hate to see a large mammal go to extinction.
What is a cause you’re passionate about? Even if you’re not involved in it– what cause are you passionate about? What in the earth do you want to fix? Water conservation? Recycling? Polar bear saving (or animal extinction in general)? Ocean cleanup? Poverty awareness? Volunteer work? Natural disaster relief? It could be anything. Tell me why you’re passionate about it and what you do to help. It would be absolutely great if you could answer, because I think everyone has a little bit of them that really wants to help the world.
My passion is recycling. I go to great lengths to recycle everything I get my hands on that can be recycled, and I even convinced my old fashioned parents to start a compost pile and recycle.
I received a kidney and pancreas transplant in 2005, because a mom was kind enough at a time of great personal sorrow to allow her 14 year old son’s organs to be donated. So I am passionate about getting other people to donate and do volunteer work for that. It is discouraging when I read a news story like the one I read today; a 5 year old boy in Michican needed a heart, and died while waiting. Somewhere, there was a heart for that child. I know it means that another child dies to donate a heart to a child – but at least the donor family might have some healing and peace knowing that through donation, they kept up to 8 other families from going through the same heartache..
20. A…polar bears have few offspring. 17. D sounds like a good choice, because in ecology books they pretty much base it on the fact that all the organisms have a niche in the ecosystem, and if one disappears, the thing collapses. a simple example: grass < bunny < wolf < fungus and decomposers < (soil) < grass if one thing disappears, all the other things will find it very hard to survive
From http://www.bearplanet.org/global-warming-polar-bears.shtml ——————————————— “Global Warming effect has serious consequences for all living organisms, but it is of especially great concern for the polar bear. According to the U.S. Geological Survey Office, reduction in sea ice in the Arctic can see a loss of 2/3rds of the entire word?s Polar Bear population over the next 50 years. “
20. D, because global warming is eliminating polar bear habitat. Number of offspring is irrelevant if habitat goes. 17. I like B.
You don’t need diversity for food crops, nor recycling of raw materials, nor is it the same issue as global warming–in theory you could stop that by planting plenty of just a few tree species, while switching to nonfossil fuels. While it may be necessary for medicines, basically I think diversity should be maintained for its own sake. The world wouldn’t be as interesting without a lot of cool exotic species like rhinos, crocs, sharks etc.
